Florida’s premier trade organizations have come together May 1 through May 31, 2015 to celebrate Florida’s role in the global marketplace. The Florida Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise Florida and World Trade Center Miami have joined forces to partner with the State of Florida, local governments, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and trade organizations located throughout the State to promote events that focus on Florida’s role in international trade and the impact that two-way trade has on the whole State of Florida. Check the calendar for events that may be coming up in your community. In the meantime, read below for information on the three partner organizations.
Florida Chamber of Commerce
For nearly a century, the Florida Chamber of Commerce has fought for free enterprise and worked to secure Florida's future. Through research, advocacy and leadership, the Florida Chamber Foundation, the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Chamber Political Operations work together to help make our vision of Florida's future a reality.
This vision led to the development of a long-term strategic plan for Florida, also known as the Six Pillars™ 20-year Strategic Plan. As we faced the closing years of the last decade, Florida’s economy was clearly changing and the politics of Florida were calling for the business community to unite. Despite temporary loss in population growth, it was clear Florida would be facing an expanded population between five and seven million more residents by the year 2030. We must do a better job planning for the next seven million Floridians than we did for the last seven million.
None of this would be possible without members of the Florida Chamber of Commerce supporting the shared vision for a prosperous state and its thriving communities competing successfully in a global marketplace. There is still much work to do, but with Florida’s business community united in the effort to secure Florida's future, we can set the example for the rest of the nation.
Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI) is a public-private partnership between Florida’s businesses and government leaders, and is the principal economic development organization for the state of Florida. EFI facilitates job growth for Florida businesses through recruitment and retention, international trade and exporting, promotion of sporting events, and capital funding programs to assist small and minority businesses. In pursuit of its mission, EFI works closely with a statewide network of economic development partners and is funded both by the State of Florida and by private-sector businesses.
EFI is the state’s primary entity for trade and export development supporting more than 60,000 Florida exporting businesses. The organization also supports small and minority businesses through its capital programs. Another key aspect of EFI’s responsibilities is the marketing and promotion of Florida as a premier business destination.
